ABOUT ETHEL
ETHEL is one of the most acclaimed ensembles in contemporary music. With an eye to tradition and an ear to the future, the quartet is a leading force in concert music’s re-engagement with musical vernaculars, fusing diverse performance practices into a vibrant, engaging sound. Boyd Meets Girl
Boyd Meets Girl features the unique and versatile pairing of cello and guitar, with a diverse range of repertoire from Bach and Debussy to Beyoncé and Radiohead. The duo, comprised of American cellist Laura Metcalf and Australian guitarist Rupert Boyd, has toured the world with their eclectic and engaging performances, reached No. 3 on the Billboard Traditional Classical Chart, had their music streamed more than 2.5 million times on Spotify alone, and been called “beguiling… fascinating… enchanting” by Gramophone Magazine.

Canadian Grand Master fiddler Tom Fitzgerald (The Fitzgeralds) presents a unique take on Celtic music. Grounded firmly in Canada’s longstanding Ottawa-valley fiddling tradition, Tom is also an avid explorer of many musical genres, namely traditional & contemporary Irish, classical, bluegrass, and jazz. Joining Tom is guitarist Colin Forhan (Eileen Ivers), one of the most in-demand session players in the NYC trad scene. He is also a regular instructor at the Irish Arts Center in Manhattan.

Jake Schwartz, guitar
Bill Girolamo and Jake Schwartz, classical guitar duo, have been performing together for 12 years. Their programs showcase a wide range of genres and styles, including Renaissance lute duos, Scarlatti keyboard sonatas, the Spanish music of Granados and Albeniz, modern works of Phillip Glass and Leo Brouwer, and arrangements of classic rock and pop. Bill is a distinguished solo and ensemble guitarist who has played extensively across New York and the U.S., with notable appearances on WNYC radio. Jake is the guitarist for Broadway’s The Book of Mormon, the rock-funk band Van Davis, and has performed alongside Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton, and Gloria Gaynor.

The winner of the 2022 Nevada Arts Council Professional Artist Grant, Raja is active as a soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist with the Sono Luminus label. Performing favorites of the repertoire old and new.

Thapelo Masita leads a superstar trio of cellists in a joyful survey of repertoire for the most versatile and wide-ranging string instrument. Repertoire includes enticing selections from the the classical canon, as well as Masita’s new arrangements of South African “Kwela” music.
